The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Industrial Capability and Warstopper Program Office is seeking information from material service centers on raw materials required to sustain DoD Weapon Systems and troop support equipment. DLA intends to assess the capabilities of various industries and, if feasible, leverage those capabilities to support wartime surge demands.
The ideal service center would track the pedigree of the material(s) and include all warranties; be able to provide large- to-small (usually less then mill-size truck loads) material orders; provide other services(i.e. processing) to help reduce waste in support of customer orders; assure reasonable cost (e.g., guaranteed pricing per manufacturerââ¬â¢s contract with supplier); establish purchases with approved sources for material as required to meet DoD application specification or drawings; and be willing to establish wartime safety levels or inventory (with Government provided funding ,if needed)with the ability to hold and rotate material.
