The USDA ARS Corn Insects and Crop Genetics Research Unit (CICG) in Ames, IA, intends to award procurement of a project for MassArray genotyping of 9600 corn DNA samples for 36 redefined single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) assays. This project based on the use of 36 assays x 8 plexes being used in the ongoing research will be conducted in accordance with the procedures in FAR Part 13.106 and 6.303-2. The purchase determination is based on past like-testing and the requirement to maintain consistency in custom reagent use and testing and ability to complete the project in the required turnaround timeframe. Establishing a new source for this testing may introduce new variables to the ongoing experiments and impair comparison of results from previous experiments. This project is anticipated required completed by the end of February 2015. This vendor has proven their ability to provide reagent and testing capability. The cost has been determined fair and reasonable based on current technical knowledge of fair market value. The anticipated purchase order value is $36375.00. This is not a request for quotation.
