DESCRIPTION:

***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Applied Biosystems Inc. a service agreement that would provide maintenance and repair for a ABI 3130xl Genetic Analyzer. This includes the computer and software used with this genetic analyzer***

*** The Applied Genetics Group in the Biochemical Science Division requires a maintenance agreement for their ABI 3130xl Genetic Analyzer for daily operations to take place. ***

***Applied Biosystems is the only vendor that has the technical capability to meet the Government's minimum needs and provide maintenance & repair for the genetic analyzer, computer and software. ***

***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and the period of performance for this award shall be one year with two option years.***

***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811310, and the size standard is $7M.***

***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by June 3rd, 2013.***

A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
