THIS A NOTICE OF INTENT AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with AB Sciex LLC, 110 Marsh Drive, Foster City, CA 94404, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(l)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for one (1) each of the following items: Maintenance Agreement Renewal for 4800 Maldi TOF/TOF/Analyzer, serial #AK12820808. This instrument is comprised of multiple patented components and proprietary software applications, providing high resolution of proteins with sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility across a wide range of applications and sample types. This service will provide parts & proprietary software, which includes proprietary source algorithms necessary for proper instrument operation. AB Sciex is the original equipment manufacturer and is the only company capable of repairing this instrument due to the proprietary/patented nature of the components. Effective date: January 25, 2014 thru January 24, 2015. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Point of Contact at the address stated above. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 10 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 10 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with AB Sciex, LLC. The NAICS Code/Size is 811219/19.0M. This procurement is to be processed using FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12 Commercial Item Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
