The Gerstel MPS system is a complete sample prep system that is capable of adding extraction solvent to capped vials containing tobacco, shaking and extracting the samples using an orbital shaker, filtering the samples, and injecting them into the Gerstel Chemstation (GC). The entire procedure is automated and "hands-off". The automated filtration technique system is proprietary. The system uses proprietary gripper technology that allows the use of traditional syringe filters. The unique gripper design provides for a firm grip on the filter, allowing the system to filter in either direction. Filtration and extraction can be performed from or into any size vessel up to and including 20mL. Filter design uses a needle on the bottom that allows filtration from or into sealed vials. A variety of syringe types and sizes are available for the system, from 4mm up to 25mm. The filtration system provides automated injection into the GC. The Gerstel Maestro software provides complete method integration into Chemstation or Mass Hunter. All of the extraction method parameters are integrated into the Chemstation or Mass Hunter method.
