This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format under Simplified Acquisition Procedures at Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items; and FAR Subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items; as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as Request for Quotations (RFQ) NLM-2010-097. This solicitation document incorporates provisions and clauses that are in effect in the March 2005 Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Revision, including all FAR Circulars issued as of the date of this synopsis. It is the intent of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diesease, National Institutes of Health (NIH), to negotiate and acquire services to study the function of UDP-GalNAc: polypeptide alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferases (ppGalNAcT), a family of proteins responsible for adding O-linked glycans to protein backbones.

This is a service contract for gene targeted mouse testing and animal physiology. This contract will include lab testing, studies, and data analysis of mice. The services to be performed are electroporation of ES cells with constructs generated in the NIDDK lab, screening for positive ES cell clones, injection of positive ES cells into blastocysts to generate chimeric mice, housing and breeding of chimeric mice, and genotyping to identify gene targeted offspring.


The contract vehicle is a Firm Fixed price contract.

The period of performance is May 2010 through November 2010.


This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation number is NIH-NLM-010-097 and the solicitation is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ).
