Synopsis:
Sources sought for Prospective Bidders: The University has determined that Offerors for this project will be required to have a valid California contractor's license appropriate for the type of work involved. The Offeror or performing lower tier subcontractor is required to have a current California contractor's license, proof of insurance, and bonding capability. The University is seeking sources that are both large and small businesses. The University may elect to set this requirement aside exclusively for small business participation if a sufficient number of small businesses are qualified.

Description:
The scope of the replacement of KSubs project includes the replacement of existing 12.47kV-480V electrical substations that service the Klystron Gallery and Accelerator Housing, with University Furnished equipment - KSubs and Motor Control Center equipment. There are four (4) substations which include three (3) 2000kva and one (1) 500kva transformer sized substations. Each substation consists of two (2) primary circuit breakers, a transformer with snubber, and secondary distribution switchgear. The 2000kva transformers are harmonic canceling type. The scope of work also includes installation of 480V motor control center and two distribution panels fed from each substation, and from existing substation K1. The substations are fed via a 12.47kV manhole system and will be reconnected to the dual feeders originating from the Master Substation. The work shall occur in Sectors 0-10 of the Klystron Gallery, B002.
The scope of the upgrades project includes the replacement of an existing fire alarm control panel's components, an upgrade to the existing 6" domestic water line to 10" (~2000ft) and reconnection of associated fire hydrants and laterals to the Klystron Gallery building, creation of eight (8) Areas of Refuge (AOR) at the bottom of existing manways between the Klystron Gallery level and the Accelerator Housing level for fire and smoke rating and helium barriers, and in addition to the AOR at Sector 4 manway, the replacement of an associated existing stairway with a compliant stairway.

The scope of the B950 Utility Relocation Project includes demolition and modifications to the existing Mechanical Rooms #201 and #202 in the Basement of Building B950, and the demolition of the existing HVAC systems and relocation of the existing ATS to a new ~2,600 S.F. mechanical penthouse on the roof of Building B950. New mechanical penthouse will house a new HVAC Unit, relocated ATS, new MCC and new electrical and mechanical equipment as well as new utilities.

Work is anticipated to start in October 2016.

The University intends to award a single fixed-firm-price subcontract for this work based on completed specifications and drawings documents. The subcontract will be issued under Prime Contract No. DE-AC02-76-SFO0515 between the University and the United States Government (hereinafter "Government"), represented by the Department of Energy (hereinafter "DOE") for the management and operation of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and the performance of certain research and development work.
