The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to award the purchase of "Steel Material for the Production of Surface Plates" to Redding Steel LLC. The purchase will be made under FAR part 13 as a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA).

This acquisition will be made under a Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition (JOFOC) as there is only one responsible source. The JOFOC is per FAR part 6.302-1.

The steel in plate making at the BEP must be free of impurities. If impurities are present in the material, the material will fail the inspection process. Redding Steel meets the manufacturer's specifications of heat treating. Prior testing on other sources of steel has proved inadequate quality of steel other then the steel provided by Redding Steel LLC. In order for the BEP to maintain ISO certification, it is necessary to acquire steel from Redding Steel LLC.
