John F. Kennedy (JFK) Federal Building Veterans Affairs Regional Office (VARO) 14th - 16th Floor Realignment

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Region 1 (New England), is conducting market research for the construction of three floor realignment in Boston, Massachusetts. This project is defined as a renovation construction project that follows the GSA Operational Excellence guidelines, the GSA Facilities Standards for the Public Buildings Service (P-100) 2018, and the Veterans Affairs Design Guidance 2015. GSA has contracted with a Design Architect-Engineer (A/E)who will deliver a complete design drawings and specifications.
GSA intends to solicit to receive competitive construction fixed-priced proposals from Contractors to provide the labor, materials, and other costs necessary to satisfactorily provide construction services per the stamped construction bid document to be completed by the A/E. Building will be occupied during the performance of work under this contract, and the work shall be conducted in multiple phases to minimize the disruption to the Veterans Benefits Administration’s (VBA) daily mission.
A/E will provide post construction-contract services (PCCS) for GSA through construction and turnover. The overall goal of the A/E’s Consulting Services is to inspect and monitor all work performed by the contractor to ensure compliance with contract requirements, including reviewing submittals, requests for information, and shop drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract requirements and full intent of the Construction Bid Package.
This project will renovate the existing office space for the VBA located on the 14th, 15th, and 16th floors of the JFK Federal Building in Boston, Massachusetts. The current 53,000 square feet space will include work spaces, meeting spaces, support spaces, storage and all others. The goal is to deliver an open, inviting, functional, professional and collaborative work environment that will benefit the VBA and veterans.
The current estimated magnitude of construction is $10,000,000 to $15,000,000. The estimated project duration for the construction is estimated at twenty-four (24) months. GSA is planning to begin construction by the end of 2020.
