The Norfolk District, Corps of Engineers will be issuing a solicitation for an UNRESTRICTED, firm fixed price, Invitation for Bid (IFB) for Jetty Construction located on Tangier Island, VA

The project site is located on Tangier Island which sits in the Chesapeake Bay approximately 13 miles southwest of Crisfield, MD and approximately 15 miles directly east of Reedville, VA. The project consists of building a jetty structure along the northern channel entrance on the west side of Tangier as an effort to help stop erosion on the island. Construction of the jetty will include constructing approximately 685 foot of jetty structure consisting of Type 1 (VDOTRBS) riprap/armor stone, Class III (VDOTRBS) riprap/core stone, placement of geotextile fabric, placement of marine mattresses, placement of excavated material in an adjacent placement area, and any incidental work related to construction as well as pre and post construction surveys of the project area. The project will require use of a turbidity curtain and/or AquaDam during construction. The project will have approximately 260 feet of jetty structure constructed on or near land in a marsh/shoreline environment and approximately 425 feet constructed in deeper water. The maximum width of the jetty structure is approximately 71 feet.

Liquidated Damages shall be assessed in the amount of $1,007.00 for each day of delay. The Magnitude of Construction is between $1,000,000.00 AND $5,000,000.00. The NAICS code applicable to this requirement is 237990, with a small business size standard of $39.5 million.

The effort will be solicited and awarded utilizing the Sealed Bid procedures under FAR Part 14.
