This requirement is for the overhaul of the main engine for the Navy Tug manufactured by Fairbanks-Morse. The engine, a 38D8-1/8, 20 Cylinder Diesel, 2000 HP will require the disassembly and installation of the following new parts: 10 each upper pistons and rings and all lower piston rings; fuel injection nozzle re-build, 20 each; Install fuel injection pumps, 10 each; replace main Engine lube oil pump and reassemble engine and conduct operational test. Negotiation being conducted with Fairbanks-Morse, the only known source with proprietary right to repair and upgrade the main engine with certified Fairbanks and Morse mechanics. NOTE 22 applies.
