The United States Geological Survey, Sacramento Office of Acquisition and Grants, Sacramento, CA intends to make a non-competitive award to Carl Zeiss SMT, One Corporation Way, Peabody, MS for Service and Remedial Maintenance on LEO 982 Digital Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope located at the USGS in Menlo Park, CA. Zeiss has been determined to be the only known vendor who can provide the necessary services and material to maintain this equipment. The Government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and the procedures of FAR Part 12, entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items.
