The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Atomic Physics Division, intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(1) (b), with Coherent, Incorporated of Santa Clara, California, for a service agreement to cover all replacement parts, including FAP-Iââ¬â¢s, Labor and Travel, for 17.5 months or 4375 hours of operation, for several Coherent Verdi 10W laser systems that NIST already owns. ****This notice of intent is based on market research that finds only Coherent, Inc. can provide the item noted above.**** The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334413, and the size standard is 500 employees. ****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, parties authorized by Coherent, Inc. that can provide the service agreement noted above may respond to this notice to indicate that they can provide it. Such notice shall be provided by June 17, 2005. The Government will then determine whether this procurement can be competed. A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition will be based upon responses to this notice.
