THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED.The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Office of Acquisitions (OA), Division of Extramural Research Activities (DERA), intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive sole source basis to Bruker Biospin Corporation, 15 Fortune Drive, Billerica, MA 01821, to purchase preventive maintenance and repair service on the below equipment. The maintenance and repair service will include the following; Items (1) Bruker DRX 5 Channel 600, system number BH009797, Item (2) Probes Accessories; CP TX1 60093 H-C/N-D-05Z serial number Z44855/00084, Items (3) CryoPlatform w/annual maintenance. The service contract is for a twelve-month period, ending on June 12, 2008. The service contract shall include one (1) preventive maintenance per year and unlimited emergency calls. The sole source determination is based upon the fact that the equipment is manufactured by Bruker Biospin and only the manufacturer is authorized to provide maintenance service. Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 811219 and the Standard Size is $6.5 million is applicable to this requirement. The small business set-aside does not apply. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures, and exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement.
