THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED.The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Office of Acquisitions (OA), Division of Extramural Research Activities (DERA), intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive sole source basis to Siemens Medical Solutions, 6021 University Blvd., Ellicott, MD 21043 to purchase preventive maintenance and repair service for the below equipment. The maintenance and repair service will include the following: Siemens Medical Solutions Leonard Workstations, (1) 400-169875, (2) 400-169876, (3) 400-169877, (4) 400-169878, (5) 400-169879, (6) 400-169880, (7) 400-169881, (8) 400-169883, service includes labor, parts, and access to Siemens UPTIME service support center for technical telephone support remote diagnostics if available to the site and equipment. The service contract is for a twelve-month period, ending on September 30, 2008. The sole source determination is based upon the fact that the equipment is manufactured by Siemens Medical Solutions and only the manufacturer is authorized to provide maintenance service. Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 811219 and the Standard Size is $6.5 million is applicable to this requirement. The small business set-aside does not apply. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures, and exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement.
