The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) intends to award the Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS) Waterjet Service and Part Procurement to Wartsila Defense, Inc. 3617 Koppens Way Chesapeake, VA 23323. Wartsila is the only firm with the expertise, experience, and facilities necessary to service and supply parts for the INLS waterjets.
The requirement consists of services including the inspection, overhaul, and repair/ replacement of waterjet bearings, shaft seals, flushing systems, and steering systems. NAVFAC will also procure parts and sub-components related to these efforts. The anticipated period of performance is 15 September 2011 to 15 September 2014. Wartsila is the original equipment manufacturer, servicer, and supplier of the INLS waterjet.
Under the authority of FAR 6.302, NAVFAC intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability by responding to the requirement or submitting proposals. This synopsis not a request for competitive proposals; however, NAVFAC will consider responses/ proposals received within 14 days of this synopsis. The determination whether or not to compete this requirement is solely within NAVFACââ¬â¢s discretion. NAVFAC will only consider information received for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement.
