The United States Coast Guard Maintenance & Logistics Command Pacific in Alameda, CA, proposes to contract for the Drydock and Repair of USCGC HAWKSBILL (WPB 87312), homeported in Monterey, California, during the period of 25 September 2002 through 05 November 2002. A proposed work list includes: production control, Gantt bar chart provide; skeg structural modifications; hull plating, underwater body inspect; hull plating, underwater body ultrasonic testing; renew forward peak hatch; propulsion shaft seals mechanical overhaul and inflatable renewal; propulsion shaft stern tube coating; propulsion shafting remove and install; propulsion shaft external bearings renew and check clearances; propeller clean and inspect; electric meter calibration; fathomether transducers general maintenance; pressure gauges and thermometers (critical) calibration; sea valve (<=2.5 inches) renewal; sea valve (>2.5 inches) overhaul; rudder inspect and repair; appendages (underwater) preserve, internal; hull plating, underwater body preserve, partial; cathodic protection and zinc renewal; hull plating, underwater body preserve (100%); hull plating, freeboard preserve; temporary services; and drydocking. On or about 15 days from issuance of this notice, an Invitation for Bid (IFB), will be issued, in accordance with the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. Contractor's facilities must be located on the West Coast of the United States, Columbia River and south, to be considered responsive. For Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, to acquire short-term working capital assistance for transportation related contracts, loans are available under the DOT short Term Lending Program (STLP) at the prime interest rate to provide accounts receivable financing.
