Drydock, repair and conversion of the NOAA Ship FAIRWEATHER to be performed at the contractor's facility. Performance period will be approximately 13 months commencing about July 2002. Basic contract items will include towing of vessel from Marine Operations Center, Pacific - Seattle, Washington to contractor's facility; new electronic propeller shaft and bow thruster controls; replacement of evaporators; replacement of heating boilers; overhaul and conversion of cranes; new machinery monitoring system; replacement of fire detection system; conversion of interior spaces; installation of launch, and boat davits; modification of the pilothouse; main engine conversion and overhaul; overhaul propulsion shafting and propeller systems; repairs on the Morgan cathodic protection system; load line assignment and hull classification surveys; removal and replacement of the lower rudder stock bearings; services of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) as required to obtain Classification and Certification; asbestos abatement and interior modifications; stability test at the conclusion of the shipyard period; and others. There will also be option items including fantail modifications and Multibeam, Motion Reference Unit (Mru), speed log systems and vessel transducers installations. Vessel's current homeport is Seattle, WA, post-conversion homeport is Ketchikan, Alaska. This is a 100 percent small-business set-aside.
