The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the Department of Defense Medical School and Health Sciences University, hereby announces its intent to acquire on a sole source basis with MicroCal, LLC. in Northampton, MA an iTC200 MicroCalorimeter. The ability to quantitate binding interactions is essential for research within our department. Isotherm titration calorimetry (ITC) is the only technique that can simultaneously elucidate the accurate determination of binding constants, reaction stoichiometry, enthalpy and entropy, thereby providing a complete thermodynamic profile of the molecular interaction in a single experiment. An iTC200 will be employed to fully characterize molecular interactions and quantify the binding of substrates, in particular to study interactions between proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, cofactors, ligands, and drugs. The MicroCal iTC200 isothermal titration calorimeter is the only instrument that can perform these characterizations. This award is IAW FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1) and authorizes USUHS to award contracts when only one source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. All inquires may be addressed to Nadine Utz, 4301 Jones Bridge Road, Room A1040C, Bethesda, MD 20814-4799 by 19 May 2008 at 12:00 p.m.
