Sole Source determination is based on the following: The Biochemical Science Division at NIST requires the Inverse Triple Resonance 900 MHz Microprobe accessory to be installed in the NIST-owned Bruker Advance 900 MHz NMR Spectrometer system to allow NMR measurements to be applied to mass limited samples in volumes of less than 10 microliters. This Inverse Triple Resonance 900 MHz Microprobe accessory must be 100% compatible with the operating system and hardware configuration of the NIST-owned Bruker Advance 900 MHz NMR spectrometer system currently in operation. Must have the hardware compatibility for size fit and proper mounting of the microprobe accessory inside the Bruker Advance 900 MHz NMR spectrometer UltraShield, UltraStabilized (US2) magnet bore, and which is also compatible with the Bruker Orthogonal Shim System (BOSSTM-3) on the spectrometer. Must have the hardware/software compatibility of the Z-gradient coil with the Gradient Assisted Spectroscopy (GRASP TM II) accessory installed on the Bruker Advance 900 MHz NMR spectrometer. Must have the hardware/software compatibility of the tuning/matching system of the probe with the Automatic Tuning and Matching (ATM) accessory installed on the Bruker Advance 900 MHz NMR spectrometer.
Bruker Biospin Corporation is the only vendor capable of providing the required Inverse Triple Resonance 900 MHz Microprobe accessory in order to satisfy the Government's minimum requirements. Bruker Biospin is the sole manufacturer and distributor.
