The National Science Foundation (NSF) intends to make a sole source award to The University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development (Internet2) for its continued need to access to the Internet2 Research Network provided.

This action will allow NSF to maintain its membership status and to pay Internet2 the access fee in order to be able to connect to the Internet2 via the MAX GigaPop. Membership is necessary so that NSF can collaborate in a variety of working groups, participate in strategic planning, and verify awards that are distributed via the network.

The base period of performance will be the date of award through December 31, 2016.

The contract will also include the option to extend the order for one (1) period of January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017, pursuant under FAR Clause 52.217-9.

The proposed contract action is for services for which the government intends to sponsor with only one source under the authority of FAR 8.405-6(a)(1)(i)(B). This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. This synopsis is for information purposes only.
