NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces its intention to negotiate and issue a sole source award for the purchase of 9 Indian male rhesus macaques with the Alpha Genesis Incorporated (AGI), Yemassee, SC. The purpose of the study is to investigate the efficacy of intermittent PrEP with GS 7340, a novel tenofovir pro-drug with favorable antiviral and pharmacokinetic profile. The Contractor will perform the following tasks: 1-. Two-dose intermittent PrEP with GS7340 administered before and after virus exposure (n = 6). 2-. Control untreated macaques (n = 3). MINIMUM VENDOR QUALIFICATIONS: The vendor should have animal facilities fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC). The vendor should provide specific-pathogen-free (SPF) rhesus macaques and have updated physical records of the macaques. The vendor should maintain its primates in complex social and physical environments in order to provide behaviorally and medically healthy animals. The anticipated period of performance will be 12 months from the award date. AGI is the only source available to provide the specific quantity, type, and critical timeframe deemed necessary by CDC. CDC intends to negotiate this requirement under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested parties who believe they possess the capabilities to satisfy this requirement should submit a capability statement demonstrating their abilities to meet this requirement.
