The Department of Defense has a requirement to demonstrate that munitions which reliably fulfill specified performance, readiness, and operational requirements on demand must minimize the probability of inadvertent initiation and severity of subsequent collateral damage to the weapon platforms, logistic systems, and personnel when subjected to unplanned stimuli.

The U.S. Air Force, Air Armament Center, Systems Interface and Integration Branch is interested in obtaining information from the global armament/munitions industry on available facilities that could execute Insensitive Munitions (IM) testing in accordance with MIL-STD-2105D and appropriate NATO Standardization Agreements (STANAGS) for Liquid Fuel/External Fire (Fast Cook-off), Bullet Impact, Slow Heating (Slow cook-off), Sympathetic Reaction, Fragment Impact and Shaped Charge Jet.
The Systems Interface and Integration Branch is seeking to identify potential candidates with IM testing capabilities for warhead and missile systems with up to explosive Net Equivalent Weights (NEW) of 1000 lbs and up to total test item weight of 5000 lbs.

This Request for Information should address Net Equivalent Weight restrictions of the facilities, past IM testing experience, permanent IM test sites, if available, x-ray capabilities in accordance with ASTM E-1742, instrumentation and photographic capabilities.
