The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-Clinical Brain Disorders Branch-Genes, Cognition and Psychosis Program (CBDB-GCAP) intends to negotiate and award on a non-competitive basis a purchase order to Illumina, Inc., 5200 Illumina Way, San Diego, CA, 92122 for the purchase for the Infinium HumanExome BeadChip Semi-Custom Beadchip. The reagents and supplies have specialized features that will allow high thru-put processing of samples for genome-wide genotyping of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a fatal neurodegenerative disease.

These kits are proprietary to Illumina and no other manufacturer provides these kits that are compatible with the Government-owned equipment.

The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR Part 12 procedures and exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
