This purchase request is for a Datex-Ohmeda Patient Monitoting System. These units will be used in the Maternal Newborn Ward of the Naval Hospital in Rota, Spain. The Navy has identified this Datex-Ohmeda infant warmer as a direct replacement of the equipment currently in use at the facility. The existing equipment is outdated and past its life expectancy. Using these new warmers maintain the standard of care and reduce the training down-time of the staff. The Datex-Ohmeda infant warmers provide unparalleled flexibility and capabilities for the maternal ward. This includes the ability to monitor the temperature of infants and weigh them without having to move them to a separate scale. Onboard oxygen blender reduces the need for extra O2 tanks in the room. In addition, the small size and mobility of the warmer combined with the above stated capabilities allows for the infant to be treated at the bedside. This ability promotes the Family Center Care that the Naval Hospital has established as the standard of care for the maternal ward. The Statutory authority for this sole source purchase is Title 10 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1) as implemented in the FAR 6.302-1(a) (2).
