This project consists of multiple types of project work over a two-year period.

1.  Reconstructing 0.3 mile of road into an ATV trail.  This treatment includes removal of fill from stream channels and installation of drivable cross drain channels.  Other items are installation of two paved waterway ATV crossings, including base material.  (Work must be accomplished in 2013)

2.  Reconstructing 2.0 miles of road into a foot trail.  This treatment includes removal of fill from stream channels and returning channels to natural grade and dimensions while maintaining a walkable foot trail.  Grade control structures will be constructed as well as placement of rocks for easy crossing of streams.  At the main Little Smith crossing construction of stairways will be required using metal railing and retaining wall blocks.  Sections of trail will require complete reconstruction.  (Work must be completed in 2013)

3.  Building .07 mile of new foot trail.  Clearing and excavating material from the new trail location.  Drainage structures shall be required in draws with rock placement for easy foot passage.  (Work must be completed in 2013)

4.  Decommissioning approximately 3.5 miles of road.  Road decommissioning treatment is complete recontouring with decompaction of the roadway.  The road decommissioning is on a large road template (deep fills) that has failed multiple times.  Rebuilding the road will be required in some sections to gain access.  All fill material in draws will be removed and stream channels restored to natural grade and dimentions.  All disturbed areas will be seeded.  In addition, native forbs and shrubs will be tranplanted from areas adjacent to the road.  Grade control structures will be constructed in newly restored stream channels.  (Work must be accomplished in 2014)
