The Little Kay Road Decommissioning project consists of decommissioning approximately 8-11 miles of road. Road decommissiong treatments range from drainage structure removal to complete recontouring. Roadways will be decompacted as described in worklists. All fill material in draws will be removed and stream channels restored to natural grade and dimensions. all distubed areas will be seeded. In additiona native forbs and shrubs will be transplanted from areas adjacent to roads. Grade control structures will be constructed in stream channels. This project also includes .76 miles of road access maintenance. This will include temporary water crossings, brush clearing and stabilizing the road for final use.
This project is part of the Collaborative Forest Landscape, Restoration Projects (CFLRP). The goal of the CFLRP project is to utilize collaborative, ecological, economic and social sustainability with an empahsis on providing local employment opportuntities.
The project is located southeast of Kooskia, ID. From Kooskia travel south on Highway 13 for 11 miles to the junction of Sally Ann Road. Turn left and travel 3.5 miles east to Clearwater, ID. Turn right on County Road 284 and travel south for 10 miles to the junction of Forest Road 1855. Turn left and head northeast for approximately 2.5 miles to the beginning of the project area. (Alternate route to project area: From Kooskia travel east on County Road 1842, Leitch Creek, to County Road 286, approximately 3.5 miles. County Road 286 becomes FS Road 286, approximately 24 miles to beginning of project.
No pre-bid tour is planned.
It is estimated that work will begin on August 1, 2015 and all work must be completed no later than October 31, 2015.
