The Food and Drug Administration intends to make a sole source award for an Illumina Nextseq550 instrument to support CFSAN's efforts to evaluate microbial and viral communities within complex food matrices using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). The FDA uses Illumina's proprietary method of sequencing which enables the parallel sequencing and is required to maintain consistent sequencing methods.

In accordance with FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement within five (5) days after the publication of this synopsis which shall be considered by the agency.
