Referencing Fed Biz Opps - Special Notice Solicitation number 973631 - U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service, Intends to award a sole source procurement to the vendor - Illumina, Inc. located at 5200 Illumina Way, San Diego, California 92122-4616. The Soybean Genomics and Improvement Laboratory at U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service in Beltsville, Maryland, has a Tecan robotic system that is designed for processing the following, Illumina, Inc. BeadChips, BARCBean12K BeadChip. The laboratory also has an instrument called the Illumina, Inc. iScan. This instrument is a platform that generates high-throughput analyses of multiple biological samples - DNA and is specifically designed to analyze Illumina, Inc. - iSelect HD BeadChips. The WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, BARCBean12K BeadChip is considered a specialty item in the biotechnology industry and must be compatible with the aforementioned iScan system. Other manufacturer's products are not compatible, will not physically fit and are not able to process high-throughput SNP DNA marker analysis. USDA has used the
WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, BARCBean12K BeadChips purchased by our collaborators in their laboratory.

Thus, the additional analyses using the WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, BARCBean12K BeadChip will provide SNP genetic marker data that will be compatible with data that we have previously obtained. The BeadChip is a rectangular shaped, four-sided, flat glass slide (chip) approximately l inch x 3.25 inches in size with a grayish hue and a mirror-like coating. Each slide is covered with thousands of pieces of DNA that are used for thousands of tests. Each slide is designed to interrogate between 3072 and 90,000 custom targets for 24 different DNA samples. There are two slides -BeadChips - n each Assay Kit. The various chemical reagents required to process the Beadchip to assay between 3072 and 90,000 custom SNP DNA markers in 48 different DNA samples is also included in the kit. These tests will allow us to detect genes or other genetic factors that control resistance to disease and insects, productivity and the nutritional quality of soybean and common bean.

Statement of Work:

a. Compatible with Illumina's Infinium assay
Beadchips must be compatible, both physically and with current customized software, with customized Illumina Tecan robotic system for Illuminia's Infinium assay.

b. Interrogation of custom targets
Each beadchip must be designed to interrogate between 3,072 and 90,000 custom DNA targets.

c. Number of samples
Each custom beadchip must target 24 different DNA samples.

d. Assay Kits
Each assay kit must contain 2 beadchips with the various chemical reagents required to process the Beadchip to assay between 3072 and 90,000 custom SNP DNA markers in 48 different DNA samples.

e. Instrument for data collection
Beadchips must be compatible with Illumina's iScan detection system for data collection.

f. Data compatibility
All data collected from beadchips must provide SNP genetic marker data that will be compatible with data that we have previously obtained from our current system for continuity of data.

The NAICS - North American Industrial Classification Code is 334516 - and this requirement is to be competed - as - full and open - as there are no known small business to satisfy the above requirement.

Any vendor who believes they can provide the following, is invited to submit substantiating documentation and their quote via email to [email protected] - no later than Wednesday September 25, 2019 . No late quotes or oral presentation will be accepted. Anticipated award date is Thursday September 26, 2019
