Background:
The US Forest Service, Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District, is soliciting fuels management services to treat vegetation to reduce the risk of wildland fires and improve forest health. This solicitation is for approximately up to 438 acres of slashing, pruning, hand piling, some excavator piling and pile covering activities in the Kootenai Fuels Reduction 2570 acre handwork Project Area. All aspects of the work program shall be performed in an organized and systematic manner. Award(s) will be based on the summation included for each item. All quantities provided are estimates and may change based on government needs and availability of funds.
Scope of Contract:
The solicitation is for slashing, pruning, hand piling, grapple piling and pile covering. Cut all woody understory vegetation (alive or dead) that is 6'' DBH and less; stumps and stobs created from severing will be less than 6 inches in height. Follow Silvicultural Prescription for specific site needs. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies (except those designated as Government furnished), and incidentals to perform all work necessary on the areas specified. All aspects of the work program shall be performed in an organized, systematic manner to assure services will be performed over the entire unit.
Period of Performance:
The period of performance is estimated to be from October 1, 2018 to November 1, 2019. Estimated start date: October 1, 2018.
Location:
Multiple locations throughout the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District within Kootenai County: These units are in English Point, Canfield Mountain vicinity, Eastside of Hayden Lake and up Fernan Creek. Refer to maps for unit locations and access points.
