DeSoto County experienced extensive road damage resulting from Hurricane Ian on September 28, 2022. Damage included washout of roadways and shoulder, pavement loss, and culvert damage. The County wishes to procure the services of a qualified Contractor to perform restoration of these areas on an emergency basis. Work generally includes mobilization to work locations, placement of road materials, compaction, culvert replacement (if needed), temporary asphalt patching, sod stabilization and maintenance of traffic. All repairs are intended to be temporary in nature as an emergency measure to create safe and passable roadways. It is intended that the County will utilize barricades or other protective measures where needed due to soft shoulders, damaged guardrails or other conditions following completion of this scope which will exist until permanent repairs are made. 1. SUBMITTALS, SHOP DRAWING OTHER REQUIRED DATA: Contractor shall supply general information for the road base materials and asphalt to be used in the project prior to placement. Due to the emergency nature of this project, there is no specific gradation, proctor or similar test required. The County will need sufficient information to verify that the products comply with the products required herein. 2. COMMENCEMENT, COMPLETION, WORKDAYS/HOURS AND NOTIFICATION: Contractor shall begin work within seventy two (72) hours of notification by DeSoto County unless otherwise agreed by the County. Contractor shall mobilize appropriate crew, equipment and materials to perform the work in a timely manner. Work on each location shall continue daily until complete. Work shall occur seven days a week unless otherwise agreed. There are no limitations on allowable work hours; however, it is anticipated the Contractor will only work in day light hours. 3. STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS: All work shall be accordance with OSHA requirements and specifications, other technical references cited within the contract documents, and relevant industry standards. All work shall be in accordance with the material and product manufacturer’s requirements and recommendations. 4. SERVICES TO BE FURNISHED BY CONTRACTOR: Contractor shall furnish all supervision, labor, material, and equipment. The services to be furnished by Contractor are specifically: Restoration of minor road washout areas. Minor road washout areas are defined as repairs which require twenty (20) cubic yards of material or less. Restoration of moderate road washout areas. Moderated road washout areas are defined as repairs which require greater than twenty (20) and up to two hundred (200) cubic yards of material. Restoration of major road washout areas. Major road washout areas are defines as greater than two hundred (200) cubic yards of material. Replacement of existing culvert pipes where needed with equivalent size pipe. Temporary asphalt patching of roadways. Sod stabilization of roadway shoulders.
