This is a NOTICE OF INTENT for Solicitation HSSS01-13-Q-0262 for a limited competition between Mine Safety Appliances and Battelle Memorial Institute. The Government intends to negotiate a firm fixed price contract with Battelle for the acquisition of fire life safety detectors proprietary to Mine Safety. Batelle is the only authorized reseller of this product. This requirement is unrestricted. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 334519. **PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements may submit in writing complete information describing their ability to provide the services as detailed above. Responses may only be sent via e-mail to [email protected]. Information received as a result of this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. Submission of information does not guarantee this requirement to become a competitive procurement. A determination by the government to not open the requirement to full and open competition, based on response to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. If the Procurement office has not received any information from other interested parties that would justify the use of full and open competition for this requirement by 1700 hours EST on September 13, 2013, a Sole Source contract with Battelle is intended to be issued. Late submissions of interest will not be considered for this procurement, but may be considered for future procurements.
