Cocoa, The Season's Tree, Caroling, Tokens of Good Will, and the Dreams of Every Child Celebrated!
Kirtland Air Force Base Youth Services joins the Arts & Crafts program for this yearly family festival of good cheer. As a member of our family, you show your support to our troops and their families during the holiday season.
Holiday trimmings and a bountiful assortment of treats make this community event a memory-maker for all. To enhance the Tree Lighting Ceremony, which draws up to 300 people yearly, we hope to make our families' lives a little brighter with a new holiday tree give-a-way!
The wind up to our main event starts November 1st, when squadrons have the opportunity to build life-size greeting cards displayed on Wyoming Boulevard
and compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cash prizes to help offset their holiday parties.
Little ones have the chance to participate this year, too, in our new ornament contest hosted by the KAFB Youth Center. Ornaments are displayed at the Youth Center through December 3 when they are moved to the base chapel during the Tree Lighting Ceremony and social. The top three winners in each category will be displayed on the Mountain View Club Holiday Tree throughout the season.
On December 4th, a luminary-lit walkway welcomes everyone to ring in the holidays with a flick of the ceremonial switch. Our 377 FSS Commander traditionally officiates and the tree is lit, shining to all that the season is here. With hot cocoa, cookies, and other goodies in tow, kids of all ages wait to escort Santa from his fire truck chariot eager to their wishes to the jolly man of the hour while mom's and dad's capture a life-long memory.
We invite you to be part of the magic. Partner with KAFB to support the troops and their families with the gift of good will, hope, and season's greetings to all. Support can be provided through monetary or in kind contributions and donations and is a priceless part of our active duty families' morale. Support the troops. Be part of the magic. Partner with us and make a difference.
Kirtand Air Force Base, NM serves over 65,000 Active Duty Airmen and families, retiress, Reserve/Guard Members, civilian employees, and contractors. Through events like this, we partner with our community to provide an enhanced community through MWR.
