The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park NC, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Illumina Inc, 9885 Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, CA 92121, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This request is for Sequencing Reagents as follows: 1) PE-401-3001- TruSeq PE Cluster Kit v3-cBot-HS (Qty 14 kits) Provides kitted reagents for PE cluster generation using cBot on Flow Cell v3-supports TruSeq multiplexing on HiSeq platforms 2) FC-121-2002/ TruSeq DNA Sample Prep Kit v2-Set B(48rxn with PCR) (Qty 6 kits) Kitted reagents for Sample Preparation of 48 total DNA samples for single read, paired end, or multiplexing sequencing. Each kit contains 12 of 24 unique indexes each index sufficient for 8 individual samples. (indexes 1,2,8,9,10,11,20,21,22,23,25,27). Kits to be processed using the Illumina Genome Analyzer System HiSeq2000 in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC. Purchase of the Illumina reagents on a sole source basis for the following reasons: 1) No alternative reagents can be used with the existing instrumental platform, because of the unique technology used in the Illumina Genome Analyzer System HiSeq2000 and 2) The use of Illumina platform is required to assure continuity of research for the existing research project. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received with 5 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 5 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Ilumina Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
