Description of Supplies/Services: The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Western Coastal and Marine Geology, has a requirement for a high resolution bathymetric and seismic reflection survey of selected areas offshore Southern California using an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). Survey to include high resolution bathymery using multibeam sonar, seafloor backscatter using sidescan sonar, and seismic reflection profiles using a chirp subbottom profiler. The Government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively IAW FAR Part 12 and 13.106-1(b)(1) to Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute(MBARI). These surveys are to be collected as part of an on-going collaborative research effort being conducted by scientists at MBARI and the USGS to document the extent of recent seafloor deformation associated with known faults. No other source is known that can provide this service. In accordance with FAR 5.207 (c)(15)(i), other interested concerns having the ability to furnish these supplies/services shall submit a capabilities statement to the Contract Specialist no later than the closing date of this announcement. All submissions will be evaluated to determine if competitive opportunities exist. This is NOT an RFQ. This does represent the Government's only written notice of this procurement. All responsible sources may submit a response which, if timely received, will be considered by the agency. This notice and any resulting solicitation or contract conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-43, effective 02 August 2010.
