Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, the Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a three-year class justification to The Boeing Company for award of multiple sole source contracts for the procurement and support of the Harpoon/SLAM-ER Weapon Systems, in support of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and the United States Navy (USN).  Authority to act under this proposed class justification expires on 31 December 2014.  The proposed contracts will provide the procurement and support of approximately 240 Harpoon/SLAM-ER All-Up-Round (AUR) missiles and retrofits in tactical exercise and training configurations and spares.  These procurements include related supplies and support necessary for the manufacture, integration, deployment, engineering and logistical support of the missile for various FMS countries and the Legacy USN Harpoon/SLAM-ER weapons program. 

Boeing is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the Harpoon missile. They are the only contractor that possesses the requisite personnel, special tooling, product drawings, and manufacturing capability to meet the U.S. Navy's FMS customer requirements. Additionally, Boeing has been the sole source manufacture for Harpoon missiles since program inception in 1971. Unless otherwise stated herein, no formal request for proposal or additional written information is currently available. Request for the same will be disregarded. A determination by the Government not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. This synopsis is published for informational purposes only.
