National Institute on Drug Abuse, Office of Acquisitions- Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition, on behalf of the National Institute on Mental Health (NIMH), intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to Bruker Biospin Corporation, 15 Fortune Drive, Manning Park, Billerica, MA, for an annual service plan for the gradient installation on BioSpec 47/60 VAS. The plan includes: diagnosis of faults on B-GA38S shim/gradient coils, use of AC-44 shim/gradient coils in the event that the B-GA38A has to be repaired or replaced, removal and installation of the B-GA38S and AC-44, and on site service and engineering support as needed. Bruker Biospin Corporation is the manufacturer of the BioSpec and only Bruker Biospin can perform maintenance on its equipment.

The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 13 procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
