The U.S. Geological Survey Geographic Information Office has a requirement to update the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) database for the State of Arizona. This requirement is a sole source requirement to the University of Alabama, Department of Geography, Placenames Research Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Project deliverables will be new name records with their accompanying attribute data. All data will be free from restriction regarding use and distribution. Data may be used in The National Map. Over the past 26 years the University has classified GNIS data on a national basis. They possess an extensive and unique map reference library of source materials directly related to the updating of GNIS data correctly and consistently. Should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. All responses shall include literature, brochure information or other materials that respond to this requirement. The information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for this document without accompanying information will be considered nonresponsive and will not be considered further.
