The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Gatan Inc., Warrendale, PA 94588, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for one (1) each of the following: 1)- (1 each)- 832.10W-SC1000W camera, 35mm port, fiber optical coupled CCD camera for 120 ke V  operation up to 11 million pixels, 5 and 30MHz dual clock speed, high-resolution phosphor scintillator; 2)- (1 each)- 832.T Installation and basic operator training. This camera will be installed on a transmission electron microscope and will be used to take photomicrographs of the ultrastructural features of cells in various biological tissues. Gatan, Inc.is the manufacturer and sole distributor of this instrument, thereby making them the only available source for this requirement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, the order will be issued to Gatan, Inc.
