The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service announces an opportunity on the Superior National Forest for the removal of existing wooden stairways at Flying to Gotter Lake Portage and two wooden stairways at Duncan to Rose Portage in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). Construct new stone stairways using wilderness techniques which does not allow any power tools or generators. All work must be completed using hand tools only and available rocks.
