The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a Fourier Transfer Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR), required to update NIST capabilities and replace an FTIR that is no longer supported. An FTIR Spectrometer performs chemical analysis of materials, specifically polymers, both transparent and opaque (with the addition of an Attenuated Total Reflectance (ATR) accessory).
