United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Pullman, WA is conducting market research to determine the extent of sources capable of providing a Flow CytoFlex S System. The Government will use responses from this Sources Sought synopsis to make an appropriate acquisition decision about soliciting this requirement. This is neither a solicitation announcement, nor a Request for Proposal (RFP) or Invitations for Bids (IFB) and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the USDA, ARS Pullman. The purpose of this Sources Sought notice is to determine interest and capability of potential qualified businesses relative to the North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The small business size standard is 100 employees. The Government anticipates awarding a Firm Fixed Priced Contract.
Product Information for Flow Cytometer
1. Lasers, wavelengths, detectors and parameters we require four lasers with approximate wavelengths of 488nm (Blue), 638nm (Red), 405nm (Violet) and 375nm (Near UV). The instrument is required to be capable of detecting a minimum of 15 parameters including 13 fluorescent detectors with multiple channels at each wavelength.

2. Flow style, event collection and flow rate we require a sheath fluidics flow system with adjustable flow rates and the possibility of low volume sample size (10uL) with event collection as high as 25,000 events per second. Additionally, multiple sample input formats are required (5mL, 1.5/2.0mL single tube and auto sampling capabilities - 96 well standard, U or V-bottom plates).

3. Instrument size limited laboratory space requires that the instrument must fit in an area of 24 x 24 (footprint) and must be less than 20 in height.

4. Sensitivity and resolution, we require high sensitivity (<30 MESF for FITC and <15 MESF for PE) and seven decade resolution with an applicable range of 250nm to 1200nm.
