On July 12, 2018, Federal Prison Industries, Inc. (FPI) posted a notice in the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps). In this notice, FPI announced its proposal to offer products, such as Purified Water and Flavored Drinks, to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and to Federal agencies as new, competitive products. Purified Water and Flavored Drinks are classified under Federal Stock Classification (FSC) 8960 Beverages, Nonalcoholic. FPI will be competing for business in the federal market, without invoking its mandatory source.

FPI received no comments from any interested party regarding this proposed production, within the 30 days allowed. Therefore, the FPI Board of Directors has approved FPI to offer Purified Water and Flavored Drinks are classified under Federal Stock Classification (FSC) 8960 Beverages, Nonalcoholic.
