The Federal Highway Administration plans to award a sole source purchase order to Engineering Laboratory Design Company for the fiberglass flume inlet for the high speed sediment recirculation flume.  The inlet is specifically designed to perform with the high speed sediment recirculation flume which carries various sections that include a sediment catch basin, and a diffuser that will return the flow into the flume.  Additionally, the high speed flumes or wind tunnels use a specially designed trumpet shaped inlet nozzle which conditions the flow.  Engineering Laboratory Design Company are the sole developers and manufacturers for the fiberglass flume inlets they are considered the only source that can provide the equipment.  This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is August 29, 2012.
