The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) is seeking additional sources for these crimp style ferrules in accordance with SAE AS21608A Ferrule, Shield Terminating, Crimp Style, for listing on Qualified Products List (QPL-AS21608). SAE AS21608 is available from www.sae.org.
Ferrules covered by this this specification are intended for use with shielded cables. The cables to which the ferrule is to be attached must be appropriately fitted to the correct size ferrule. These terminations are intended to provide ground or bonding connections for shielded braid of RF cables of MIL-C-17 and other electrical and electronic wiring in locations where the total ambient temperature does not exceed the rated temperature of the cable to which the ferrules are attached (150 °C for Type I ferrules and 105 °C for Type II ferrules).
THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. With respect to products requiring qualification, awards will be made only for products that are, at the time of award of contract, qualified for inclusion in QPL-AS21608 whether or not such products have actually been so listed by that date. Contractors should be aware of requirements specified in SAE AS21608A. Manufacturers should arrange to have the products that they propose to offer to the Federal Government tested for qualification in order that they may be eligible to be awarded contracts or orders for the products covered by SAE AS21608A. Guidance for manufacturers and their authorized distributors who wish to submit products for NAWCAD qualification is available from the Provisions Governing Qualification (SD-6).
