The government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii). The proposed source is FEI Company, Hillsboro, OR. The purpose of the services is as follows: Service agreement for maintenance of an FEI Scanning Electron Microscope. The government anticipates a sole source award to FEI for the following reason: FEI engineers are factory-trained and have full access to system hardware, software, updates, parts, proprietary test tools and software passwords for service access. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, any quotation received within fifteen(10) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
