The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) may have a future requirement to solicit and negotiate a fixed price, sole source, multiple year (base and options) contract to General Electric Aircraft Engines (GEAE) for the procurement of an estimated 170 Engines and Devices for FY19-FY23. If initiated, this acquisition will be pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority 10 USC 2304 (C ) (1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements."

GEAE is the sole originator, developer, manufacturer and integrator of the F414-GE-400 Engine, and is the only known source with the requisite technical knowledge, specialized expertise, facilities, capability, tooling and technical data, and qualified personnel necessary to fulfill these potential future requirements within the timeframe required.
