The Fremont-Winema National Forests are sponsoring a training session dealing with Stewardship Contracting. The training is free, but registration is required. The 2-day session will be held May 13 and 14 at the Community Health Education Center, 2200 Eldorado Blvd., Klamath Falls, Oregon. Stewardship Contracting involves contracts that are a hybrid of timber sale contracts and service contracts. Grants and agreements may also be involved. Under this new contracting authority, the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management may use income from goods sold to pay for services rendered. The development of projects that use this authority must have considerable collaboration with the public. The first day of the session is intended for anyone interested in this new management tool and how projects can be developed to use it. The second day will focus on a specific example project and is intended for those that will be developing projects, preparing contracts or bidding on contracts. The first day is a prerequisite for the second day.
