The contractor shall furnish all labor and materials to harvest Loblolly, Slash, and Longleaf Pine and various hardwood trees from 3 areas totaling 157 acres. All 3 areas will be selectively thinned. Volumes are estimated to be approximately 2,021 tons of pine pulpwood, 698 tons of pine saw timber, 455 tons of pine chip-n-saw, 229 tons of hardwood pulpwood, and 60 tons of mixed pine and hardwood fuel wood. Timber is considered to be in average condition for the Sumter Area. The contractor shall have completed harvesting operations and removed all designated timber from the sites by 31 July 2007.
The areas to be harvested are located at Poinsett Electronic Combat Range, Sumter County, South Carolina. The Range lies between Wedgefield, SC to the north and Pinewood, SC to the south; it is bounded on the east by Hwy 261 and on the west by Hwy 120. Within 2 of the 3 thinning areas, all trees to be harvested are marked with a spot of blue paint at eye level. Within the other thinning area, the trees to be reserved are marked with multiple spots of blue paint at eye level and all other trees are to be cut.
