The Contractor shall furnish all labor and materials to harvest selected pine and hardwood trees from 7 areas totaling 250 acres. All areas will be selectively thinned except for Area 6 which includes 6.5 acres to be clear-cut. Volumes are estimated to be approximately 4,581 tons of pine pulpwood, 335 tons of pine saw timber, 340 tons of pine chip-n-saw, and 115 tons of hardwood pulpwood. Fuel wood chips derived from other-wise un-merchantable limbs and tops could amount to an additional 200 - 300 tons but the value of that commodity, if any, will be negotiated with the successful bidder for the merchantable timber. Timber is considered to be of good quality for the Sumter Area since it includes some high quality longleaf and slash pine. The Contractor shall have completed harvesting operations and removed all designated timber from the sites by 31 July 2008. The areas to be harvested are located at Poinsett Electronic Combat Range, Sumter County, South Carolina. The Range lies between Wedgefield, SC to the north and Pinewood, SC to the south; it is bounded on the east by Hwy 261 and on the west by Hwy 120. Within 6 of the 7 sale areas, all trees to be harvested are marked with a spot of blue or orange paint at eye level. Within the other sale area, the trees to be reserved are marked with multiple spots of blue paint at eye level and all other trees are to be cut.
